What are the commonly used blanks in mechanical manufacturing?Issuing time:2020-11-27 08:46Author:Allen Ai Types of blanks commonly used in machiningThere are many types of blanks, and there are multiple manufacturing methodsfor the same blank. The commonly used blanks in mechanical manufacturing are asfollows: (1) Casting The rough parts with complex shapes shouldbe manufactured by casting methods. At present, most of the castings are madeof sand casting, which is divided into wooden mold manual molding and metalmold machine molding. Wooden mold manual molding castings have low precision, large machining surface allowance and low productivity. They are suitable forsingle-piece small batch production or large-scale parts casting. The metalmold machine has high molding productivity and high casting precision, but theequipment cost is high, and the weight of the casting is also limited. It issuitable for mass production of small and medium castings. Secondly, a smallnumber of small castings with high quality requirements can be made of specialcasting (such as pressure casting, centrifugal manufacturing, investmentcasting, etc.). (2) Forgings For steel parts with high mechanicalstrength requirements, forging blanks are generally used. There are two typesof forgings: free forging and die forging. Free forging forgings can beobtained by manual forging (small blanks), mechanical hammer forging (mediumblanks) or press forging (large blanks). This forging has low precision, lowproductivity, large machining allowance, and the structure of the parts must besimple; it is suitable for single-piece and small-batch production, as well asthe manufacture of large forgings. The precision and surface quality of dieforgings are better than that of free forgings, and the shape of forgings canbe more complicated, which can reduce machining allowance. The productivity ofdie forging is much higher than that of free forging, but it requires specialequipment and forging dies, so it is suitable for medium and small forgingswith larger batches. (3) Profile According to the cross-sectional shape, theprofile can be divided into: round steel, square steel, hexagonal steel, flatsteel, angle steel, channel steel and other special cross-section profiles. There are two types of profiles: hot rolled and cold drawn. Hot-rolled profileshave low precision, but they are cheap, and are used for the blanks of generalparts; cold-drawn profiles are small in size, high in precision, easy torealize automatic feeding, but the price is higher, and they are mostly usedfor large batch production and are suitable for automatic Machine processing. (4) Welding parts Welded parts are combined parts obtained bywelding methods. The advantages of welded parts are simple manufacture, shortcycle time, and material saving. The disadvantages are poor vibrationresistance and large deformation. They can only be machined after agingtreatment. In addition, there are stamping parts, cold extrusion parts, powdermetallurgy and other blanks. Precision casting is also called precision casting, lost wax casting, and its materials include stainless steel, various alloy steels, and carbonsteel. As a professional precision casting manufacturer, we also have strongmachining capabilities, with various Japanese imported and domesticallyproduced processing equipment to ensure that the product processingrequirements are qualified.
